THE WHATKNOT BOW TIE COMPANY is a company that makes handmade custom bow ties In Cleveland, Ohio. Created in December of 2012 by Mark A Mathews because he couldn't find the bow ties he liked in the stores he would frequent, he had an idea to create his own bow ties so he purchased a used sewing machine from Craigslist, asked a lot of questions and learned how to sew.

In the beginning, the bow ties didn't turn out so good but eventually they looked so good that people wanted to buy them. As a result, Mark kept making them. Eventually, he was able to leave his job and operate The Whatknot full time.  

The Whatknot Bow Tie Company is now a brick and mortar store in the heart of downtown Cleveland.
